Silverdale Seniors
We have a great time in the Seniors Section at Silverdale Golf Club. We meet every Tuesday and Thursday for our roll-ups (9:30 for 10:00) and tend to play team competitions. Entry is £1 and when we can, we have multi-tee starts. This allows us to have a “prize-giving” before everyone goes home.
In the Summer we play for our various medals and trophies on the first Tuesday of every month where we book tee slots on-line. We occasionally squeeze in a few stableford competitions using on-line tee booking as well. We also play for a doubles knock-out trophy in the summer months and a singles knock-out trophy over the winter.
We also play friendlies with other Clubs during the summer. The golf is always free (home or away) but you have to pay for your meal. We can’t wait to see what Neil serves up for us this year!
We have away-days as well – Sedbergh is always a favourite and we have been to Blackpool North Shore, Stand and Richmond in recent years.
We also have a seniors tour. These are generally booked in September and participants have three rounds of golf on consecutive days. We are going back to Anglesey this year.
During the winter, we operate a winter handicapping system. This ensures that those players on form over the winter have their handicaps cut for the roll-ups to try and give others a chance.
Our biggest day of the year is our “bottle” competition. On this day we play 4BBB, where everyone wins a bottle, have a dinner, our Seniors AGM and then our annual Prize-giving.
We have our own page on our website (see "Seniors Notices" under the "Members" tab) and our own closed group on Facebook (currently 45 members). If you want to play with the Seniors you have to be over 55, but you can’t win our trophies unless you are over 60. Why not come and join us – we are a friendly bunch!
