Meet Our 2022 Captains

Tony Spedding told us "It is an honour to be Captain of this beautiful club , a club that I am so proud to be a member of.

I have lived in Arnside all my life . I have been married to Nicola since 2000 and we have two children Emily who is 13 and Lewis who is 12 . I am a passionate Leeds United supporter ( ex season ticket holder ). My love for golf started in the mid Eighties , just as Nick Faldo’s career was taking off . I have previously been a member of both Grange golf clubs. I joined Silverdale in 2000 and in 2001 I had Aortic valve replacement and a graft on the Aorta and during my recovery period I won the Roberts Trophy , and because of my surgery I have chosen The British Heart Foundation as my chosen charity. I feel so attached to the golf club , as I have met so many great people .

I hope this year has no more restrictions and we can all enjoy all Nineteen holes!"

Margaret Roberts told us "I was born in Wigan and after qualifying as a chef moved to Keswick and then on to Grange over Sands where I met Mike, a keen golfer and member of GOS golf club.

We have been married for 38 years have 3 daughters and 2 grand daughters.

I took up golf only 5 years ago when we both joined the friendly club of Silverdale, I regret not starting earlier.

My chosen charity is the British Heart Foundation as I have personal experience of the fantastic work they do and all the help they offer.

My aim for the year is to work together with Mr. Captain for the good of the club and to continue supporting the ladies section, both new and existing members."
